Got banned from commenting the ridiculous “caloriegate” blog for the following comment. I wish I had a screen shot.
I’m not going to link to them because I don’t want to give them traffic, but this was part of a conversation in the comments of a post saying among other things that “if calories in calories out was a valid theory I’d be able to cut 500 calories and burn an extra 500 and disappear completely by November”
I SWEAR TO GOD I AM NOT MAKING THAT UP. That’s their argument. Morons.
not unlike many of the claims in the original post, your reply is a reductio ad absurdum arguement.
of course when people go on a reduced calorie diet they reduce carbs in the process. The issue is still with total calories though. For that matter as a professional trainer and eating disorder recovery specialist I’ve taken significant amounts of weight (all from adipose while increasing lean mass) off numerous clients while actually increasing their carb intake from whatever restrictive nonsense they’d been unfortunate enough to get sucked into doing after reading articles like this.
It is far from my first time encountering these ideas as I deal with undoing the damage they wreak on people every day.
These fucking low carb / pro orthorexia imbeciles. If I’m wrong why not debate the science instead of just bailing because you’re in over your head and can’t handle hearing the truth.
What’s interesting is when you read this guy Adam Kosloff’s bio on his own site, by his own admission he’s just a professional writer who read Gary Taubes stupid book and decided that made him an expert and qualified to start his own blog on the subject. That’s actually consistent across the board with most of these low carb / high fat bloggers.
And when someone who actually is qualified checks in like “actually you’re wrong and the bad information you are proliferating is damaging people” they don’t want to know.
Money and ego. That’s all it’s about with these people;
